How to Convert WebP to PNG

Three steps, all in your browser.

1

Add your WebP image

Drag the .webp file onto the drop zone or click to browse — images saved from websites often arrive as WebP. The file never leaves your device, and you will see its size and dimensions once it loads.

2

Keep PNG selected

PNG is pre-selected, and because it is lossless there is no quality slider to worry about — the pixels are stored exactly as decoded, transparency included. You can switch to JPG or another format if you prefer.

3

Convert and download

Click Convert to render the PNG, preview it, and download it with one tap. The image keeps its exact pixel dimensions — only the file format changes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why convert WebP to PNG?
WebP is common on the web but still awkward off it: some photo editors, office tools, upload forms and older programs will not accept a .webp file. Images saved from a website often come down as WebP even when they look like ordinary photos. Converting to PNG gives you a file that opens in effectively every application, with no quality lost.
Is WebP to PNG conversion lossless?
Yes. PNG is a lossless format, so the pixels decoded from your WebP are stored exactly as they are — no additional compression artifacts are introduced and no quality slider is needed. Note that a PNG is usually larger than the WebP it came from, because WebP compresses more aggressively.
Is transparency preserved?
Yes. Both WebP and PNG support an alpha channel, and the converter keeps it intact — transparent logos, stickers and UI assets stay transparent in the PNG. If you instead convert to JPG, BMP or GIF, transparent areas are placed on a white background because those formats cannot store alpha.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser using the built-in image decoder and canvas encoder. The WebP file is never sent to a server, logged or stored, and the tool keeps working offline once the page has loaded. Closing the tab clears everything.
Can I convert animated WebP files?
Only the first frame. PNG is a still-image format, so an animated WebP is flattened to its first frame when converted. If you need every frame, export the animation from a video or GIF tool instead.
