Pixelate Image

No — the pixelate tool runs entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your image is loaded, pixelated and downloaded on your own device — it is never sent to a server, logged or stored. That makes it safe for private or sensitive photos, and it keeps working offline once the page has loaded. Closing the tab clears everything.

Switch the mode to Area, then drag the box over the part you want to hide and pull a corner to resize it. Only the pixels inside the box are pixelated, so the rest of the photo stays sharp. Turn up the pixel-block size for a stronger, blockier censor. This is the usual way to blur out a face, a name badge, a house number or a car number plate before sharing.

Pixelation replaces each block of pixels with a single averaged colour, which permanently discards the fine detail in the exported image — there is no hidden original inside the file to undo. Use a large enough block that the detail you are hiding (a face, text, digits) is no longer readable; small blocks can leave text partially legible. For truly sensitive text, cover it with a solid shape rather than a light pixelation.

JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF and BMP are all accepted as input. You can export the result as PNG (lossless, best for screenshots and graphics), JPG (smallest for photos) or WebP. Animated GIFs are flattened to their first frame, like any canvas-based tool.

Increase the pixel size with the slider — a larger block size means bigger, blockier pixels and a stronger effect, while a small block size gives a subtle, fine mosaic. The preview updates live as you drag, so you can dial in exactly how much of the detail disappears before you download.
