Tip: click any pixel on the preview below to choose the colour to remove. The default is the top-left corner pixel.
How to Make an Image Transparent
Three steps, all in your browser.
Add your image
Drag a file onto the drop zone or click to browse. JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF and BMP are all accepted, and the file never leaves your device.
Pick the colour and tolerance
The top-left corner colour is removed by default. Click any pixel on the preview to target a different colour, or tap Remove white, then raise the tolerance until the whole background clears against the checkerboard.
Export a transparent file
Click Make transparent & download to save a transparent PNG or WebP. Shrink it next with the Image Resizer or Image Compressor.
This colour-key approach is best for logos, icons and flat backgrounds. For a subject inside a busy photo, the AI-powered Background Remover works better. You can also round the edges with Circle Crop or trim first with the Image Cropper.
