Sharpening is the opposite of the Blur Image tool — it enhances edge contrast rather than softening. It works best on slightly soft photos; it cannot recover a badly out-of-focus shot.

Does sharpening my image upload it?
No — the sharpen tool runs entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your image is loaded, sharpened and downloaded on your own device — it is never sent to a server, logged or stored. It keeps working offline once the page has loaded, and closing the tab clears everything.
Can it fix a very blurry or out-of-focus photo?
Sharpening increases the contrast along edges so a slightly soft photo looks crisper, but it cannot invent detail that was never captured — a badly out-of-focus or motion-blurred shot has lost information that no sharpening can restore. It works best on images that are only a little soft, such as a mild focus miss or a resized photo.
How much should I sharpen?
Start low and raise the amount until edges look defined but natural. Push it too far and you get halos — bright or dark outlines around edges — and amplified noise. The live preview updates as you drag the slider, so stop just before the halos appear.
Does sharpening change the image size or resolution?
No — sharpening only adjusts pixel values to boost edge contrast; the pixel dimensions and resolution stay exactly the same. If you also need to change the size, run the result through the Image Resizer afterwards.
Which formats can I use?
JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF and BMP are accepted as input, and you can export as PNG, JPG or WebP. Animated GIFs are flattened to their first frame, like any canvas-based tool.
