Frequently Asked Questions

Why convert PNG to JPG?
File size. PNG stores every pixel losslessly, which is ideal for editing but heavy for sharing — a full-screen screenshot can be several megabytes. Converting to JPG typically shrinks it dramatically, which matters for e-mail attachments, upload forms with size limits, and web pages that need to load fast. Photographic content benefits the most.
What happens to transparent areas?
They are placed on a white background. JPG has no alpha channel, so transparency cannot be carried over — a logo on a transparent background becomes a logo on white. If you need to keep transparency, convert to WebP instead, which is small and supports alpha.
How much quality do I lose?
You control it. The quality slider runs from 10 to 100 percent; at the default 90% the loss is not visible in normal viewing for most images. Sharp-edged content such as text and line art shows JPG artifacts sooner than photos do, so keep screenshots with small text at 90% or above — or leave them as PNG.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser using the built-in canvas encoder. The PNG is never sent to a server, logged or stored, and the tool keeps working offline once the page has loaded. Closing the tab clears everything.
Does converting change the image size?
The pixel dimensions never change — a 1920 × 1080 PNG becomes a 1920 × 1080 JPG. Only the file size shrinks, because JPG compresses the pixel data. The converter does not resize, crop or watermark your image.
