The first run downloads the AI model (~15 MB) and can take a few seconds; after that it is cached and faster. Everything happens on your device.
How to Remove a Background from an Image
Three steps, all in your browser.
Add your photo
Drag a JPG, PNG or WebP onto the drop zone or click to browse. The file is read on your device and never uploaded. For iPhone HEIC photos, run the HEIC to JPG converter first.
Remove the background
Click Remove background. An open-source AI model (U²-Net) finds the main subject and separates it from the background, right in your browser. The first run downloads the model; later ones are cached.
Pick a background and download
Keep it transparent or drop in a white, black or custom colour, then download the PNG. Want to shrink it afterwards? Use the Image Compressor, or Crop to reframe.
After the cut-out, Circle Crop frames it as a round avatar, Image Resizer sets the final pixel size, and Image Compressor shrinks the PNG. To pull text out of the same image, use Image to Text.
