How to Make a PDF Booklet

Add your PDF
Drag in the PDF you want to turn into a booklet, or click to browse. The file stays on your device — the imposition runs locally with pdf-lib, so nothing is uploaded.

Make the booklet
Click Make booklet. The pages are placed two per sheet in saddle-stitch order, and the page count is padded with blanks to a multiple of four if needed.
To rearrange or drop individual pages first, use Organize Pages. To combine several PDFs into one before imposing, use Merge PDF.

What does the PDF booklet maker do?
It rearranges (imposes) the pages of your PDF two per sheet in saddle-stitch order, so that when you print the result double-sided and fold the stack in half, the pages read 1, 2, 3, 4 in order. It is the layout print shops use for stapled booklets, zines and programmes.
How do I print the booklet?
Print the downloaded PDF double-sided, flipping on the short edge, at 100% (no shrink-to-fit). Then fold the whole stack in half and staple along the fold. Each output sheet already holds two pages side by side in the correct order, so you do not change any other print settings.
What if my PDF's page count is not a multiple of four?
Saddle-stitch booklets need a page count that is a multiple of four, so the tool automatically pads the end with blank pages to the next multiple of four. A 6-page PDF becomes an 8-page booklet with two blanks at the back; nothing you added is removed.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No — the imposition runs entirely in your browser with the pdf-lib library. Your document is read and rearranged on your own device, and nothing is uploaded, logged or stored. Closing the tab clears everything.
Will the pages be scaled down?
Each sheet is made the width of two of your pages side by side, so your pages keep their size and are simply placed two-up rather than shrunk. If your source pages are portrait A4, each booklet sheet is landscape A3 holding two A4 pages; print it at 100% and fold.
