What is the LK Forge Weather suite?
The LK Forge Weather suite is a set of free, browser-based sky tools that share one location: a Weather Forecast, a UV Index, Weather Alerts, a Hurricane Tracker, a Moon Phase tool and a Sun Times tool. The forecast and UV index (Open-Meteo), alerts (US National Weather Service) and hurricane tracker (US National Hurricane Center) use free public APIs for live data; Moon Phase and Sun Times are pure astronomy maths that run entirely in your browser with no API and work offline. Which tools work offline?
The Moon Phase and Sun Times tools work fully offline once the page has loaded, because they compute everything locally from astronomy formulas. The Weather Forecast, UV Index, Weather Alerts and Hurricane Tracker all need an internet connection, because they request live data from Open-Meteo, the National Weather Service and the National Hurricane Center. If you are travelling without a signal, open the Moon Phase and Sun Times pages before you go and they keep working with no connection.
Do I need to share my location?
Sharing your location is optional and depends on which tool you open. The moon phase is identical everywhere on Earth, so the Moon Phase tool needs no location at all. Sun times, the forecast, the UV index and alerts need a place — search for a city or use your device location. For the forecast, UV index and alerts those coordinates go to the data provider; for sun times and moon phase, only the maths runs in your browser.
Where does the weather data come from?
The LK Forge weather tools draw on three official, free public sources: Open-Meteo for the forecast and UV index, the US National Weather Service for active alerts, and the US National Hurricane Center for storm tracks and cones. LK Forge runs no weather model of its own and issues no alerts or warnings. Moon Phase and Sun Times use no data source at all — they compute positions from standard astronomy formulas in your browser.
Do the weather tools need an account or show ads?
No — none of the LK Forge weather tools need an account, a sign-up or an API key, and none of them show ads. Open any of them and it works immediately in the browser, on phone or desktop, with nothing to install. Nothing you type and no location you allow is sent to LK Forge, and no visit is tracked or profiled.
