Not an emergency alert system. This page shows official NWS alerts for reference only — it does not push warnings to your device. For life-threatening weather, follow a NOAA Weather Radio, Wireless Emergency Alerts, and your local officials.

How It Works

Pick a place and read every active alert — no account, no key.

1

Choose your area

Tap "Use my location" and allow access, or pick a US state from the list. Your coordinates are sent only to the National Weather Service to find alerts for that spot — LK Forge does not track you.

2

Read what's active

Alerts are grouped by severity — Extreme and Severe first — with the event name, the areas affected, and when each one expires. Filter to just Heat, Cold, Winter, Fire, Flood or Severe storms.

3

Know what to do

Open any alert for the official "what to do" instructions. New to the terms? Learn the difference between a watch, warning and advisory, or pair this with the Weather Forecast tool.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a watch and a warning?
A watch means conditions are favorable for hazardous weather — be prepared. A warning means it is happening or imminent — act now. An advisory covers less serious but still inconvenient or risky conditions. Full breakdown in our guide: watch vs warning vs advisory.
Where do these weather alerts come from?
Directly from the United States National Weather Service public API (api.weather.gov). They include Winter Storm, Extreme Heat, Extreme Cold, Red Flag fire weather, Flood, Severe Thunderstorm and Tornado products. LK Forge does not issue alerts — it shows the NWS feed for the location you choose.
Are the alerts real time, and how often do they update?
Active alerts are fetched live from the National Weather Service (api.weather.gov) each time you open the tool or choose a location — reload to pull the latest. It reflects the NWS feed at the moment you check, but it is not a push-notification or early-warning system and does not alert you before an event.
Is this tool free, and does it cover my area?
Yes, completely free with no sign-up. It currently covers the United States, its territories and coastal/marine zones, because it uses the NWS. Support for other regions may be added later. During dangerous weather, always follow your local NWS office and emergency management.
What is a Red Flag Warning?
A fire-weather alert: low humidity, dry fuels and strong winds combine so that wildfires can ignite and spread very fast. Avoid anything that could spark a fire. More in what a Red Flag Warning means.
Does this replace a weather radio or emergency alerts?
No. It is a convenient way to read active alerts, but it is not an emergency notification system and does not push warnings to you. For life-threatening situations rely on a NOAA Weather Radio, Wireless Emergency Alerts on your phone, and instructions from local officials.
