How to Use the Timecard

Fill the rows you worked — empty days count as zero.

1

Enter each day's shift

Add the start time, end time and any break for the days you worked. Each row uses the same overnight-safe math as the Hours Calculator.

2

Set rate and overtime

Type your hourly rate and adjust the overtime threshold and multiplier if your rules differ from the common 40 hours at 1.5×.

3

Read totals and print

See daily hours, the weekly total, regular and overtime hours, and gross pay. Print the card or save it as a PDF for your records.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is overtime calculated?
Overtime is based on the weekly threshold and multiplier you set, which default to 40 hours and 1.5×. The calculator first adds up every day's worked time, then splits the weekly total into regular hours up to the threshold and overtime hours above it. Gross pay is regular hours at your rate plus overtime hours at the rate times the multiplier. For example, 45 hours at $20 with a 40-hour threshold and 1.5× gives 40 × $20 plus 5 × $30, which is $950. If your overtime is figured daily instead of weekly, lower the threshold or split shifts accordingly.
Does each day support a break and an overnight shift?
Yes. Every day has its own start time, end time and break in minutes, and each row uses the same overnight-safe logic as the Hours Calculator — if the end time is before the start time the shift is treated as crossing midnight. The per-day break in minutes is deducted from that day's worked time before it is added to the week. Leave a day blank and it simply counts as zero, so you can enter a four- or five-day week without filling every row.
How do I get gross pay instead of just hours?
Enter your hourly rate in the rate field and the calculator multiplies it by your regular and overtime hours to show gross weekly pay. Leave the rate at zero if you only want the hours total and no pay figure. The result is gross pay before tax and deductions — it does not estimate income tax, withholding or benefits, which depend on your location and personal situation, so treat the pay figure as a pre-tax estimate.
Can I print or save my timecard?
Yes. Use your browser's print command (Ctrl+P or Cmd+P) to print the timecard or save it as a PDF — the table and totals are laid out to print cleanly. Because everything runs in your browser and nothing is stored on a server, the entries clear when you reload the page, so print or save a PDF if you need a record. The numbers you type stay private on your device the whole time.
Can it show decimal hours instead of hours and minutes?
The timecard shows each day and the weekly total in hours and minutes, such as 8h 45m. To convert that to decimal hours for payroll, divide the minutes by 60 — 45 minutes is 0.75, so 8h 45m is 8.75 decimal hours. Multiply your decimal hours worked by your rate to check gross pay by hand.
Can I enter start and end times in military time?
The time fields use your browser's clock picker, which follows your device's 12- or 24-hour setting. If you track shifts in military time, enter 17:30 for 5:30 PM and the overnight-safe math still totals the hours correctly. To convert a single value on its own, use the Military Time Converter.
