How to use the keyword density checker

Paste any text — an article, essay, product page or email — and the table updates instantly with the words that appear most often and how heavily each one is used. Switch between single words and 2- or 3-word phrases to spot repeated expressions, and toggle Ignore common words to hide filler like "the" and "and" so the meaningful terms rise to the top. Density is the share of the total word count each term takes up, shown as a percentage.

Use it to check that a page actually emphasises its topic, to catch a word you have over-used, or to tidy up repetitive writing. For a plain count of words, characters and reading time, use the word counter.

What is keyword density?
Keyword density is how often a word or phrase appears in a piece of text, expressed as a percentage of the total word count. If a keyword appears 6 times in a 300-word article, its density is 6 ÷ 300 = 2%. It's a rough signal of what a page is about, useful for spotting over-used or missing terms when editing.
What is a good keyword density?
A good keyword density has no exact target, and modern search engines don't reward a specific number. As a rule of thumb, keeping a main keyword's density in a natural range — often cited as around 1 to 2% — avoids both under-use and keyword stuffing. On a 300-word page that range works out at roughly three to six uses of the term. Write for readers first; use density only to catch words you've leaned on too heavily or forgotten to include.
What are stop words?
Stop words are very common words like the, a, and, of and to that appear in almost any text and rarely carry meaning on their own. Turning on the stop-word filter hides them so the table shows the words and phrases that actually describe your topic. Left in, they take most of the top places in any frequency table and tell you nothing about the subject. The filter only changes which rows are listed — the total word count the percentages are measured against stays the same.
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No — nothing you put into the keyword density tool is uploaded. The analysis runs entirely in your browser as you type or paste, so nothing you enter is sent to a server, logged or stored. There's no account or sign-up, and it works offline once the page has loaded. Closing or reloading the tab discards the text completely.
