It falls on the fiftieth day of Easter — 49 days after Easter Sunday — so it lands between 10 May and 13 June. In Britain it is traditionally called Whitsun, and Whit Monday was a bank holiday until 1971, when the fixed late-May bank holiday replaced it. Whit Monday remains a public holiday in Germany, France, Austria, Belgium and the Netherlands.
