Solves
How to use the timer
- Read the scramble at the top and apply it to a solved cube. The small diagram shows the scrambled state so you can double-check.
- Hold the spacebar (or press and hold the timer on a phone). It turns amber, then green when it is ready.
- Release to start the clock, solve the cube, then press the spacebar or tap the screen to stop.
- A fresh scramble appears automatically, and your best, mean, ao5 and ao12 update after every solve.
- Use the +2 or DNF buttons on a solve to apply a penalty, or delete it. Clear session wipes everything.
Frequently asked questions
How do I start and stop the timer?
Hold the spacebar (or press and hold the timer on a touchscreen). It turns amber, then green after a short readiness delay. Release to start, then press the spacebar or tap the screen again to stop.
What do ao5 and ao12 mean?
ao5 is the average of your last 5 solves and ao12 the average of your last 12, each computed the WCA way: the single best and single worst solves are dropped and the rest are averaged. Two or more DNFs in the window make the average a DNF.
How do the +2 and DNF penalties work?
Use the buttons next to any solve. +2 adds two seconds to that time (shown with a trailing plus), and DNF marks it as did-not-finish, which counts as the worst result in averages. You can switch a solve back to OK at any time.
Does the timer save my times?
Yes. Your session is saved in your browser's local storage, so a refresh will not wipe it. Nothing is uploaded, and the Clear session button removes all times whenever you want a fresh start.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. On a touchscreen, press and hold the timer area until it turns green, release to start, and tap to stop, exactly like the spacebar on a desktop.
