Eisenhower Matrix

A free, no sign-up Eisenhower matrix that runs entirely in your browser. Add tasks and drag them across the four urgent/important quadrants — Do, Schedule, Delegate, Eliminate — to decide what to act on now. Your matrix autosaves locally as you go.

Click “+ Add a task” in any quadrant to drop in a card and type it, then drag it between quadrants as you weigh how urgent and important it really is. Click a card to edit it, recolor it, or use the arrow to send it to the next quadrant. Nothing is uploaded; your matrix lives in this browser tab and autosaves as you work.

Drag a task between quadrants · click a task to edit · everything autosaves to this browser.

What Is the Eisenhower Matrix?

The Eisenhower matrix sorts everything on your plate by two questions — is it urgent, and is it important? The four answers become four quadrants, and where a task lands tells you what to do with it: act now, plan it, hand it off, or drop it. It is a fast way to cut a overwhelming list down to what actually deserves your attention.

1

Do — urgent & important

Crises and deadlines that need you now. Keep this quadrant small; if everything lands here, the others are being neglected. For scheduling the dated pieces, the Gantt chart maker puts them on a timeline.

2

Schedule & Delegate

Important-but-not-urgent work is where planning pays off — book time for it before it becomes a crisis. Urgent-but-not-important tasks are candidates to hand off. A Kanban board is handy for tracking the delegated items as they move.

3

Eliminate — neither

The time-sinks that are neither urgent nor important. Being honest about this quadrant is the whole point: every task you drop here is time back for the first two. Brainstorm what belongs where first with the mind map maker.

How to Use the Matrix

Click + Add a task in whichever quadrant it belongs, then type the task and press Enter. Drag a card to another quadrant as your sense of its urgency and importance changes, or reorder it within a quadrant — on touch screens, the button on each card sends it to the next quadrant. Click a card to edit its text, tap to cycle a colour, and use × to delete it. Everything autosaves to this browser as you work — no account, no upload — and when you want to share or back up, use PNG for a labelled image of the whole matrix or Save JSON to download it and Import again later.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Eisenhower matrix?
The Eisenhower matrix is a prioritisation grid that sorts tasks by two questions: is it urgent, and is it important? That gives four quadrants — Do (urgent and important), Schedule (important but not urgent), Delegate (urgent but not important) and Eliminate (neither). Placing each task in a quadrant makes it clear what to act on now, what to plan, what to hand off and what to drop. It is named after US president Dwight D. Eisenhower.
Is the Eisenhower matrix maker free?
Yes, the Eisenhower matrix maker is completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on the number of tasks. It runs entirely in your browser. PNG export and JSON save or import are all available without an account, and nothing you build is uploaded, so there is no storage quota to run out of either.
Does it save my work?
Your matrix autosaves to your browser's local storage as you edit, so it is still there if you close the tab and come back. Nothing is uploaded to a server and no account is required. Clearing your browser data will also clear the saved matrix, so use Save JSON to keep a backup. Because local storage is per-browser and per-device, a matrix you build on a laptop will not appear on your phone.
How do I move a task between quadrants?
Drag a task card and drop it into another quadrant, or reorder it within a quadrant. On touch screens, or if you prefer not to drag, use the → button on each card to send it to the next quadrant. Click a card to edit its text, cycle its colour, or delete it.
How do I export my matrix?
Use PNG to download a flat image of the whole matrix, with its axis labels and quadrants, to drop into a document, slide or chat. Use Save JSON to download the data, which you can re-import later with Import to keep editing — JSON round-trips every task, quadrant and colour exactly.
