Frequently Asked Questions

How do I trim a video?
Load your video, type a start time and (optionally) an end time as HH:MM:SS, and click Trim. The tool cuts that section out in your browser and lets you preview and download the result. Nothing is uploaded.
Does trimming reduce quality?
No. The trimmer copies the video and audio streams instead of re-encoding, so the cut clip has the exact same quality as the original and the export is very fast. It keeps the same file format as your input.
How accurate is the cut?
Because it copies streams for speed, the cut snaps to the nearest keyframe near your start time, so it may begin a fraction of a second before the exact moment you entered. For most clips this is not noticeable; for frame-exact cuts, trim a little wider.
Is my video uploaded to a server?
No. Trimming runs entirely on your device with ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly, so your file is never uploaded, logged or stored — safe for private footage, and it works offline once the page has loaded.
What time format should I use?
Use HH:MM:SS or MM:SS — for example 90 seconds is 00:01:30 or 1:30. You can also enter plain seconds like 90. Leave the end time blank to keep everything from the start point to the end of the video.
